Information published in this libguide has been developed to assist Tabor staff in selection and use of third party copyrighted works for use within teaching and learning programs. Tabor's copyright licences include:

  • Statutory Education Licence - provided through Copyright Agency, this licence allows staff to use a range of formats (including text, images, sheet music, television and film) within specific guidelines
  • Tertiary Music Copyright Agreement - provided through OneMusic Australia and including APRA AMCOS, ARIA and PPCA, this licence covers performances and recorded music events and subsequent audio and video recordings
  • CCLI - Christian Copyright Licensing International SongSelect provices access to songs of worship and the resources to perform them

How much can I use?

 

 

An entire work can be used and copied:

A reasonable portion can be used and copied:

Hardcopy            

 


If it is:

  • unpublished
  • published, but not separately
  • not available in any form within a reasonable time at an ordinary commercial price
  • an article in a periodical – such as a journal, newspaper or magazine. More than one can be copied if they are on the same subject
  • text of no more than 15 pages published in an anthology
  • an image that accompanies (and explains or illustrates) text

OTHERWISE, a “reasonable portion”                       

A work published as an edition of 10 or more pages the following applies:

  • 10% of the total number of pages OR
  • a chapter (if more than 10% of the pages)

Digital

 


 

If:

  • one of the hardcopy criteria applies
  • the work is only available for purchase in hardcopy form
  • the work is an image (even if it is available for purchase in digital form) 
   
 OTHERWISE, a “reasonable portion”              

If a digital work is published, the following applies:

  • 10% of the words
  • a chapter (if more than 10% of the words)
  • 10% of a musical work
